Dermatology Department is a tertiary care academic and clinical department of Fatima Memorial Hospital attached with FMH College of Medicine & Dentistry and works in collaboration with all other disciplines for multidisciplinary patient’s care.

- CHILD syndrome- Congenital Hemidysplasia with Icthyosiform erythroderma and limb
defects. A case report.
Academic Activities
- Teaching and training of undergraduate students.
- Training of postgraduate students of General medicine and Family medicine
(FCPS, MCPS and Canadian programme). - Continuous assessment of students (formative and summative)
- Coordinate and participate with Medicine department for conducting term tests
and send up. - Provide assistance to Controller of examination for college tests/ exams.
- Contribute as subject specialist to the university of health sciences for MBBS
and MD dermatology examination. - Participate in the clinic-pathological conference of the college.
Clinical Activities
- General OPD is conducted on all working days to give outstanding
dermatological care to outpatients (more than 1300 patients/ month on
average) - Private consultation is also provided to the affording patients.
- Comprehensive dermatological services are provided to other disciplines in the
hospital for multidisciplinary management. - Diagnostic and Therapeutic procedures to outdoor and indoor patients are
performed when indicated.
Diagnostic Procedures:
- KOH examination for fungal hyphae and spores (from skin, hair, nails
and mucous membranes) - Skin biopsy – Punch, Elliptical, Wedge, Excision.
- Scabies mite extraction and examination
- Woods lamp examination
Therapeutic Procedures:
- Electrocautery / Electrofulgration
- Curettage and cautery
- Cryotherapy
- Electrolysis
- Intralesional steroid injection
- Excisional biopsy
- Other minor dermatological procedures
- Phototherapy unit (UVA and UVB)
- Energy based devices (LASERS, IPL, Radiofrequency/ E-Light, etc)
- Specialized clinics for common dermatological disorders
- Visits to Darul Shafqat for Girls (Orphanage) for mass treatment of Scabies.
- Awarded for exceptional dedication and services in the fight against COVID-19
Pandemic.
