Department of Medical Education

The Department of Medical Education at FMHCM&D is dedicated to fostering a dynamic and high-quality educational environment that integrates cutting-edge technology and progressive educational practices. Since its creation in 2010, the department has been pivotal in establishing a center of excellence aimed at advancing teaching, learning, curriculum implementation and evaluation for both faculty and students. Its core mission is to produce professionals equipped to meet contemporary societal needs with innovative solutions.

The Department operates through several strategic committees: The Curriculum Development and Implementation Committee, the Assessment Committee, the Program Evaluation/QEC, and the Faculty Development Committee. These committees engage in:

 

  1. Curriculum Innovation: Developing, revising, and implementing curricula that incorporate emerging technologies and pedagogical advancements. This includes integrating digital tools, simulation-based learning, and interdisciplinary approaches to enhance educational outcomes.
  2. Assessment Strategies: Facilitation of the adoption of innovative assessment methodologies to provide meticulous evaluation of learner competencies and program effectiveness.
  3. Educational Research: Conducting educational research to generate evidence for innovative decision-making processes and to stay at the forefront of educational trends and practices.
  4. Faculty Training and Development: Offering ongoing professional development through advanced workshops, interactive seminars, and collaborative symposia that focus on the latest instructional techniques, digital education platforms, and innovative assessment tools.
  5. Educational and Career Counseling: Providing personalized counseling services to support faculty and students in navigating educational pathways and career development in an ever-evolving health care landscape.
  6. Innovation Facilitation: Promoting the integration of novel teaching methodologies, such as simulations, videos, Team Based Learning, and flipped classrooms, to enhance engagement and learning efficacy.
