
DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY HEALTH SCIENCES
The department is situated on the third floor of the college building, having a motivated and enthusiastic faculty staff. Community Based Medical Education (CBME) is the main theme of this department and consists of training of efficient human resources in such a way that they may be suited to the needs of the community in order to provide, maintain and improve physical, mental and social health of the individuals in the society. The subject of Community Medicine is imparted from the first to the fourth year MBBS classes with its main examination in the fourth year. The importance of this subject is to enable the students to bond to the community and appreciate the importance of primary care, disease preventive services and the concept of social accountability. The subject is being taught through different modalities including lectures, tutorials, community rotation
programme, health education sessions, role plays and field visits spread over the whole academic year. The students are trained in research through community household surveys and various research projects from 1st to 4th year. Hands on training is given to the students on data processing &
analysis on SPSS computer software and report writing. The department has fully equipped museum with public health related models as per requirement of Pakistan Medicine and Dental Council. The department is recognized for FCPS training by College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan.

Our department is proud of the Community outreach activities being conducted in different communities, Nainsukh, Lakhodair and Malikpur. These activities include mapping, baseline surveys, household surveys, interventional researches, school health projects etc.
