FMH College of Medicine & Dentistry in collaboration with NUR International University held its 1st International Medical Education Conference at Gen. Attiq Ur Rehman Auditorium, Fatima Memorial Hospital, Shadman Lahore. The conference will continue for three days i.e. from November 30, 2018 to December 2, 2018. These three days are based on various sessions delivered by renowned International and National speakers. The aim of the conference was to highlight academic and research activities in the context of Health Professions Education.
The inauguration ceremony of the Conference began with the recitation of Holy Quran. Prof. Dr. Rakhshanda Rehman, Dean School of Health Science, Fatima Memorial System presented the introduction of the conference. The honorable Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Yasmeen Rashid – Provincial Minister for Health Punjab in her address, inaugurated the conference and appreciated the efforts of FMH College of Medicine & Dentistry for organizing a conference of such a large scale.
Pre-workshop sessions were conducted on day 1, attended by several national as well as international participants. During the sessions, International & National speakers expressed the importance of Medical Education as well as focused on various topics pertaining to `health sector’. International speakers comprised Dr. Dason Evans – Queen Marry University of London, UK, Dr. Zubair Amin – Khoo-Teck Puat National University Children’s Medical Institute Singapore, Dr. Gominda Ponnamperuma – National University of Singapore, Singapore and Dr. Gohar Ali Wajid- STO-HPE WHO Eygpt.
Other dignitaries Prof. Javed Akram- Vice Chancellor UHS, Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal – Vice Chancellor King Edward Medical University, were also present at the inaugural ceremony.
In attendance was Dr. Zafar Iqbal Qureshi – Co-chairperson NUR-FMS, Dr. Jamshed Nasir – Principal FMH College of Medicine & Dentistry, Prof. Nazia Yazdanie – Principal FMH College of Dentistry, Dr. Amina Ahmad – Director Medical education and Dr. Imran Rahbar – Conference Secretary with several other leading health professionals.
