Debate Gala Concludes at FMH College of Medicine and Dentistry – [Lahore, 4th May, 2013]: The Debating Society at FMH College of Medicine and Dentistry (FMH C&D) organized a parliamentary style debates competition for the All Pakistan Lahore Debating Gala, in the Gen. Attique-ur-Rehman Auditorium at the Fatima Memorial Hospital Campus in Shadman Lahore. Yesterday was the final day in the hotly contested weeklong competition which concluded in a prize distribution ceremony. King Edward Medical College University clinched the top prize and Government College University finished as the runner up. A total of twenty four teams from all major institutes of Lahore participated in this competition including GC University, Forman Christian College, Lahore School of Economics, King Edward Medical University, LMDC, University of Lahore, Beaconhouse School System, University of Engineering and Technology, COMSATS, AIMC and Shaikh Zayed Medical College. Speaking on the occasion FMH College of Medicine and Dentistry Principal Prof. Dr. Hamyun Maqsood said: “Being a prestigious seat of learning in Medicine FMH is proud to host such an important event. Personality and character development trough co-circular and extracurricular activities are an integral part of the overall educational experience at FMHC &D. Debates like these sharpens the analytical thinking and logical reasoning skills of our young generation so that they hone their skills for leadership positions in the future.” The Principal also thanked the core team of the debating society that helped organize this mega event. FMHC & D Debates Society is setting new trends in the debating circles of Lahore with several new events planned for this year with a host of other institutes. The society recently arranged the All Lahore Declamation on 1st of May with great success. In the last 11 years, the students of FMH College of Medicine & Dentistry have secured 32 university positions & 414 university distinctions. The college has provided over Rs. 15 million worth of scholarships to deserving students in the last decade and Rs. 46 million worth of Qarz-e-Hasna to 128 deserving students.
